Getting from Zagreb or Zagreb airport to Rovinj

The travelling distance between Zagreb city centre and Rovinj around 250 km, estimated travelling time, following the shortest route is about 3 hours, if you are travelling from the Zagreb airport the travelling distance is about 260 km. Below we have listed the transportation options between the cities.

By car, the road between Zagreb and Rovinj is in a very good condition, which means driving is quite easy, the first part of the route, from Zagreb to Rijeka is a 4 lane highway. From Rijeka on, you mainly have regular roads. Please note that toll fees apply more or less end to end. If you don’t have you own car, and are more than two persons travelling, renting, for a longer period or as one way rental, is an option to consider. Plane, there is NO airport in Rovinj, and obviously therefore also not any direct flight between the cities, but you have option to fly from Zagreb to Pula, which would shorten down the road travel to about 40 km. The end to end travel time will although not be much less then driving.

Rovinj

Bus, although the number of direct bus are limited, travelling with bus from Zagreb to Rovinj is for sure an option to consider. You can check the departure schedule here. If you can find any bus suitable you may try to search first for buses from Zagreb to Rijeka and then from Rijeka to Rovinj, which would leave you with more options. Rovinj Croatia – Holidays in Rovinj

Rovinj is situated in the middle of the west coast of the Istrian Peninsula. The city has for years been among the top holiday destinations in this part of Croatia. The highlight is of course the charming old town peninsula. A walk in thee small alleys among the old houses is a must do and I can recommend also to take a walk on the road which circles the peninsula. All visitors should of course also visit the Cathedral of St Euphemia which can be found on thee peek of the peninsula, those who do not suffer from altitude problems, should for sure visit to tower of the cathedral, from which there is a stunning view over the city.

Restaurants can be found every where in the old town part and along the Riva in Rovinj. From my experience the best restaurants are the ones not situated directly on the main streets.

The accommodation offer in Rovinj is diversified and the offer ranges from Hostels to 4 star luxury hotels. In the old town part mainly private apartments can be found, but also a few of the smaller hotels in Rovinj are situated here. Also in the city parts north and south of the old town plenty of private accommodation can be found, majority of the private apartments in Rovinj are within walking distance from the city centre. For those who like to stay at a campsite this is of course also possible in Rovinj. In a radius of 10 km from Rovinj 6 larger campsites can be found.
